Rueben Randle had 123 receiving yards and a touchdown, Stevan Ridley rushed for 86 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, and No. 11 LSU effectively ended No. 5 Alabama's hopes of defending its national title with a 24-21 home victory Saturday.
LSU held the Crimson Tide to 321 total yards -- 107 rushing -- and forced two turnovers.
Alabama (7-2, 4-2 SEC) led 7-3 at half and 14-10 through three quarters, but Josh Jasper kicked 35- and 39-yard field goals in the fourth quarter with Ridley's 1-yard touchdown run sandwiched between. Ridley's go-ahead score was set up by Deangelo Peterson's 23-yard run on a reverse play on 4th-and-1. The field goals were set up a 41-yard reverse by Russell Shepherd and a sack and fumble by Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy in his own territory.
Randle had only three catches, but two of them were big ones. He caught a 75-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Jefferson to give LSU (8-1, 5-1 SEC) a 10-7 lead in the third quarter.

It was Jefferson’s first
scoring pass since the opener and the first pass play longer than 20 yards in
10 quarters for the Tigers.
One play after Jefferson left with an injury late in the fourth quarter, Jarrett Lee connected with Randle on a 46-yard pass to convert a 3rd-and-13 with less than three minutes left to seal it for LSU.
Jefferson completed 10-of-13 passes for 138 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.
McElroy was 21 for 34 for 214 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He led Alabama on three scoring drives of 70-plus yards.
Mark Ingram rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown for the Crimson Tide, and Julio Jones caught nine passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. The Tide played without Trent Richardson for nearly three quarters after he caught a 1-yard touchdown pass 1 1/2 minutes into the second quarter. He left with an apparent shoulder injury.
