Logan Thomas accounted for four touchdowns - two passing and two rushing - to lead No. 17 Virginia Tech to a 38-17 victory over host Wake Forest on Saturday.

Virginia Tech (6-1, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) won its ninth straight in Winston-Salem and improved to 13-0 in ACC games played in North Carolina. Wake Forest (4-2, 3-1 ACC) had its four-game winning streak snapped.

Thomas, who has accounted for nine touchdowns in the past two games, finished with 279 yards passing and scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards during a 21-point second quarter as the Hokies erased a 10-0 deficit with 28 straight points.

Demon Deacons quarterback Tanner Price was sacked four times and passed for 254 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Wake Forest was 1-of-13 on third-down conversions.

Price threw a 79-yard strike to Chris Givens to make it 10-0 midway through the first quarter. Givens, the ACC’s leading receiver, finished with seven catches for 140 yards.

Virginia Tech running back David Wilson rumbled for 136 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown in which he bowled over two would-be tacklers before dragging another into the end zone with 4 seconds left in the first half.

Jarrett Boykin, who became Virginia Tech’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards last week, had a career-high 150 yards, including a 20-yard slant pass in which he stretched the ball over the goal line for his third touchdown of the season.

Wake Forest running back Brandon Pendergrass stepped in for the injured Josh Harris and finished with 80 yards on 21 carries.

Hokies cornerback Jayron Hosley left with a hamstring injury in the first quarter. He has a team-leading three interceptions.
