No. 7 Oklahoma used a huge third quarter to pull away from Texas A&M in a 41-25 victory Saturday, but in the process, the Sooners might have lost Ryan Broyles to a season-ending knee injury.

Broyles, Oklahoma’s star wide receiver, left the game in the third quarter after landing awkwardly on a 30-yard catch along the sideline. He fell to the ground and was then helped to the training table. Moments later, he was in tears after conferring with a doctor before being helped to the locker room.

Meanwhile, his offensive teammates did fine without him. Oklahoma (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) scored touchdowns on four straight third-quarter possessions to blow open a game it led just 13-10 at the half.

Landry Jones went 18-of-38 for 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Sooners, who defeated Texas A&M at home for the seventh straight time. They’ve also won five of the last six meetings.

For Texas A&M (5-4, 3-3 Big 12), the implosion was a familiar one. Last week, in a 38-31 overtime loss to Missouri, the Aggies blew an 11-point halftime lead after going scoreless in the third quarter. This time, they were again shut out in the third, meaning they’ve been outscored 59-0 in the third quarter in their four losses.

Ryan Tannehill was mostly ineffective, accounting for three of Texas A&M’s four turnovers, all of them interceptions. Oklahoma turned two of them into third-quarter touchdowns — a 3-yard score by Roy Finch and a 39-yard TD catch by Kenny Stills — stretching its lead from 10 points to 31 in the matter of seven minutes.

Tannehill finished 32-of-64 for 379 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Aggies, who defeated the Sooners last year but haven’t won back-to-back games in the series since 1997-98.

Ryan Swope had a game-high eight receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown, including a 79-yard catch that brought the Aggies within three points late in the second quarter.

Broyles, college football’s all-time receptions leader, had two catches for 87 yards in what could be the senior’s final game.
