Junior running back Alex Collins rushed for two touchdowns to help Arkansas hold on for a 24-20 victory over Tennessee on Saturday night at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.
Collins ran for 154 yards on 27 carries for the Razorbacks (2-3, 1-1 Southeastern Conference), scoring on a 4-yard run in the first quarter and a 1-yard run in the third. Freshman running back Rawleigh Williams III added 100 yards on 14 carries.
Arkansas senior quarterback Brandon Allen completed just 11 of 24 passes for 219 yards and one touchdown. His 33-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Dominique Reed tied the score at 14 early in the second quarter.
Junior quarterback Joshua Dobbs completed 20 of 36 passes for 232 yards for Tennessee (2-3, 0-2). Sophomore running back Jalen Hurd rushed for 90 yards on 19 carries.
The Volunteers jumped out to a 14-0 lead after sophomore Evan Berry returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and Dobbs scored on a 7-yard run later in the quarter.
Arkansas' Cole Hedlund kicked a 26-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, tying the score 17-17.
The Razorbacks took a 24-17 lead on Collins' second touchdown run with 9:12 remaining in the third quarter.
The Volunteers cut into the lead with a field goal by Aaron Medley later in the quarter, but they could not produce the go-ahead score despite reaching the Arkansas 8-yard line on their final drive.
