Utah 41, Northern Colorado 0: Travis Wilson rushed for two touchdowns and Jake Murphy had two receiving scores to help host Utah roll to an easy non-conference victory.
Jordan Wynn threw two touchdown passes and John White rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown as the Utes handed Northern Colorado its 12th straight loss and 19th in 20 games.
Defensive end Joe Kruger had a 23-yard interception return for a fourth-quarter touchdown as Utah’s stout defense limited Northern Colorado to seven first downs and 114 total yards.
The first quarter was scoreless before Utah got its offense going and scored three second-quarter touchdowns to take a 21-0 halftime advantage.
Wynn, who passed for 200 yards, capped a 12-play, 74-yard drive by hitting Murphy on a 10-yard scoring pass with 13:05 left in the second quarter. The Utes made it 14-0 on a 3-yard scoring run by Wilson – the backup quarterback – with 2:17 remaining and White scored on a 5-yard run 34 seconds before intermission.
Wilson added a 6-yard run with 10:51 to go in the third quarter to stretch Utah’s lead to 28-0. Then the Utes put together a dominating 21-play, 91-yard drive that lasted 10 minutes, 43 seconds, with Murphy hauling in a 8-yard scoring pass from Wynn to give Utah a 34-0 lead with 12:18 to play.
Kruger then intercepted Northern Colorado backup Matt Baca and returned it for a score with 10:42 to play.
