No. 25 Texas Christian 38, Southeastern Louisiana 17: Sophomore Trevone Boykin threw for two touchdowns in relief as the Horned Frogs pulled away from the visiting Lions just before the half.
Boykin went 9-of-13 for 133 yards as Texas Christian (1-1) scored 24 straight points to break a 14-14 tie. Starting quarterback Casey Pachall (left forearm) went 8-of-14 for 100 yards before getting knocked out of the game on an 8-yard run late in the first half.
Bryan Bennett went 12-of-23 for 132 yards and a 65-yard touchdown to Jeff Smiley and added 132 rushing yards for Southeastern Louisiana (1-1). TCU outgained the Lions 402-339, but the margin was just two yards at halftime.
Waymon James and B.J. Catalon had first-half rushing touchdowns for the Horned Frogs, but Bennett matched the scores with a 1-yard run and the pass to a wide-open Smiley to tie the game at 14 with 2:38 left in the first half. Pachall was hurt on the next offensive play, but TCU capped the drive on Jaden Oberkrom's 46-yard field goal.
Two plays after the Lions' third turnover, Boykin hit Josh Doctson for a 27-yard touchdown and added a fourth-quarter TD pass to Aaron Green. Deante Gray added two catches for 67 yards as the Horned Frogs succeeded through the air.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Sophomore DE Devonte Fields played the second half after missing the previous three halves as part of a two-game suspension. ...
