Louisiana Tech 27, Lamar 14: Scotty Young passed for 166 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Bulldogs took care of the visiting Cardinals.
Tevin King rushed for 182 yards on 20 carries and Andrew Guillot added rushing and receiving touchdowns for Louisiana Tech (1-1), which bounced back after a 40-14 loss at North Carolina State in its opening game.
Caleb Berry completed 23-of-37 for 272 yards and a touchdown while Jordan Edwards piled up 119 receiving yards and a score on five catches for Lamar (1-1). The Cardinals will face a second straight FBS school when they travel to Oklahoma State next week.
Young found Jacarri Jackson for a 3-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring with 3:40 left in the first quarter. The Cardinals evened things on Payton Ploch’s 1-yard rushing score in the second, but Young hit Guillot with a 34-yard touchdown pass and the Bulldogs took a 14-7 lead into the locker room.
Lamar pulled within 17-14 on Berry’s 62-yard touchdown pass to Edwards with 10:56 left in the game, but Kyle Fischer kicked a 49-yard field goal and Guillot ran in from 19 yards out with 1:51 left to put it away.
