Rice 25, Kansas 24: Chris Boswell kicked four field goals, including a 45-yarder with no time left, as the visiting Owls came back to upset the Jayhawks.
Boswell's kick was set up by Bryce Callahan's second interception of the game, on a third-and-8 Dayne Crist pass at the Rice 47 with 4:04 remaining.
Quarterback Taylor McHargue finished 23-of-35 for 236 yards while Charles Ross (94 yards) and Turner Petersen each rushed for a touchdown as Rice (1-1) snapped an 11-game road losing streak.
Tony Pierson rushed for 120 yards – his second straight 100-yard game – and Taylor Cox added 79 yards and a third-quarter touchdown that gave Kansas (1-1) a 24-13 lead.
Crist went 16-of-28 for 144 yards, including a 23-yard first-quarter touchdown pass to Jimmay Mundine.
McHargue completed three long passes to set up Ross' 2-yard touchdown run to get within 24-22, but couldn’t connect on the two-point conversion with 4:47 left.
