Indiana 42, Bowling Green 10: Nate Sudfeld threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns while Tevin Coleman ran for 129 yards and two scores as the Hoosiers pulled away from the visiting Falcons.
Stephen Houston also gained 155 yards rushing for the Hoosiers (2-1), who set a school record for points in a three-game span with 150 – passing the previous mark of 141 in 1917. Cody Latimer caught six passes for 137 yards, including a touchdown, and Sudfeld completed 17-of-26 passes and ran for another score.
Bowling Green quarterback Matt Johnson passed for 248 yards, but the Indiana defense held the Falcons without an offensive touchdown. Paul Senn blocked a punt and scored on a 56-yard return in the first quarter for Bowling Green (2-1), which gave up 601 total yards – 266 on the ground.
The Hoosiers drove to the Bowling Green 1 twice in the first half without getting points, but rushed for 145 yards to build a 21-10 halftime advantage. Coleman ran for Indiana’s opening two touchdowns, the second a 43-yard score, and Sudfeld hit Kofi Hughes on an 8-yard fade route for a score with 2:44 left in the second quarter.
Indiana pushed the lead to 28-10 when Sudfeld connected with Latimer on a 33-yard scoring strike 4:49 into the second half. Sudfeld added insurance 37 seconds into the fourth quarter, faking the handoff inside and zipping to his left for a 1-yard touchdown run.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Shane Wynn became the 38th Indiana player to reach 1,000 career receiving yards, joining teammates Latimer, Hughes and Ted Bolser in the group. Wynn had three catches for 81 yards, giving him 1,042… The Falcons, who dropped to 5-16 against current members of the Big Ten, have blocked 15 kicks since the beginning of the 2009 season. … Indiana is 37-8-1 against Mid-American Conference opponents after meeting Bowling Green for the first time.
