Louisiana-Monroe 21, Wake Forest 19: Kolton Browning threw for three touchdowns and the Warhawks survived a two-point conversion try in the final seconds by the host Demon Deacons for the win.
Tanner Price had a pair of touchdown passes to Orville Reynolds for the Demon Deacons (1-2), including a 23-yard strike with four seconds remaining, but his throw to Michael Campanaro on the conversion try was dropped in the end zone.
Browning completed 43-of-68 passes for 315 yards as Louisiana-Monroe (2-1) controlled the tempo in its first meeting with Wake Forest. The Warhawks converted 15 third downs, a pair of fourth downs and held the ball for just under 39 minutes.
Price was 28-of-47 for 310 yards for the Demon Deacons, who had just 15 rushing yards on 15 carries. Campanaro tied an Atlantic Coast Conference record with 16 catches while amassing 177 yards in losing effort.
Browning and Price exchanged touchdown passes in the first quarter and Browning capped a 14-play drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Kenzee Jackson late in the first half to make it 14-10. Browning hit Tavarese Maye with a 9-yard screen pass for a score on the opening possession of the second half for a 21-13 advantage and Louisiana-Monroe stifled the hosts until the final possession that ended with Campanaro's drop.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Browning became the program's all-time leader in career completions (796), passing Steven Jyles who had 795 completions from 2002-2005. ... Wake Forest had scored three second-half points in its last two games before the TD with four seconds left. ... Louisiana-Monroe visits Baylor next Saturday. Wake Forest returns to the road to take on Army.
