Georgia Tech 38, Duke 14: Vad Lee passed for four touchdowns among his eight completions and rushed for a score as the visiting Yellow Jackets reeled off 28 straight points in winning their ACC opener.
DeAndre Smelter caught two second-quarter touchdowns for Georgia Tech (2-0, 1-0), which trailed 7-3 in the first before taking control en route to its 10th straight victory over the Blue Devils. Robert Godhigh rushed for 79 yards and Lee added 76, sparking a rushing attack that finished with 344 yards.
Jela Duncan rushed for 89 yards and a first-quarter touchdown for Duke (2-1, 0-1). Quarterback Brandon Connette completed 15-for-28 passes for 122 yards and ran for a touchdown in his first start of the season.
The Yellow Jackets took a 10-7 lead on Lee’s 4-yard touchdown run with 6:04 left in the first quarter. Lee and Smelter hooked up in the second on touchdowns of 24 and 10 yards, the latter coming with 42 seconds left in the half to give Georgia Tech a 24-7 advantage at the break.
Lee capped a 15-play, 73-yard drive to open the second half with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Godhigh, pushing the lead to 31-7. Lee attempted 16 passes and threw for 125 yards.
