Cincinnati 66, Northwestern State 9: Brendon Kay threw for 277 yards and four touchdowns as the Bearcats brushed aside the visiting Demons with ease to pick up their second win.
Kay completed 12-of-14 passes, with four different wide receivers catching touchdowns for Cincinnati (2-1). Hosey Williams led the Bearcats' rushing attack with 117 yards and two scores as the offense racked up 669 yards in the victory.
Cincinnati's defense forced one interception and held Northwestern State (2-1) to just 179 total yards. Demons quarterback Zach Adkins was 14-of-20 for 79 yards, while De'Mard Llorens ran for the FCS team's lone touchdown of the game.
The Bearcats took the lead on their second possession when Kay found Chris Moore from 10 yards out. Kay's 49-yard pass to Blake Annen set up Williams' four-yard plunge to extend the advantage to 14-0, and Cincinnati reeled off another 21 points to take a commanding 36-9 advantage into the halftime break.
Things continued in the same vein for the Bearcats as Kay found Max Morrison for a 41-yard touchdown early in the third quarter. The romp continued as Williams plunged in from 1 yard out early in the fourth quarter before Bennie Coney hit Shakim Alonzo in stride for a 44-yard touchdown.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kay is 5-1 as the Bearcats' QB in his last six starts. … The Demons have now lost 15 straight games against FBS teams, with their last win coming against Louisiana-Monroe in 2005. … Jamarcus Marshall was kicked out of the game for targeting after his hit on Kay just before halftime.
