Georgia Tech 28, North Carolina 20: David Sims rushed for two touchdowns and Vad Lee accounted for two scores as the host Yellow Jackets remained unbeaten.
Robert Godhigh rushed for 100 yards while Sims had 99, scoring on runs of 1 and 6 yards for Georgia Tech (3-0, 2-0 ACC). The Yellow Jackets trailed by 13 points twice in the first half before finding their stride offensively, finishing with 324 rushing yards.
Bryn Renner passed for 218 yards and two touchdowns for North Carolina (1-2, 0-1). Sean Tapley and Eric Ebron caught touchdown passes, and Romar Morris scored on a 4-yard run on the game’s opening drive.
Lee’s 1-yard touchdown run with 5:52 left in the third quarter gave the Yellow Jackets their first lead at 21-20. Sims capped an 11-play, 92-yard drive with a 6-yard run with 13:22 remaining, pushing the lead to 28-20.
The Tar Heels led 13-0 after one quarter, and Renner’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Tapley gave the Tar Heels a 20-7 advantage with 9:18 left in the first half. Lee capped a 12-play, 80-yard march by finding Darren Waller for a 21-yard touchdown with 30 seconds left in the half, pulling Georgia Tech within 20-14 at intermission.
