No. 21 Notre Dame 31, Purdue 24: DaVaris Daniels caught nine balls for 177 yards, including two second-half touchdowns, as the visiting Irish rallied to beat the Boilermakers.
Tommy Rees went 21-of-34 for 319 yards and two touchdowns as Notre Dame (2-1) scored three touchdowns in a span of 3:29 in the fourth quarter. Cam McDaniel led the Irish with just 56 rushing yards.
Rob Henry finished 25-of-40 for 256 yards and three touchdowns for Purdue (1-2), which was held to 38 yards rushing. Akeem Hunt led the Boilermakers with nine catches for 72 yards.
Purdue capped its opening drive with Hunt's 15-yard touchdown on a screen pass and led 10-3 at halftime. McDaniel's 1-yard run tied it early in the third quarter but Purdue answered with B.J. Knauf's 18-yard touchdown catch.
The flurry of Irish touchdowns - Daniels' scores of 9 and 82 yards and Bennett Jackson's 34-yard interception return with 11:18 left - pushed Notre Dame ahead 31-17. Henry hit Justin Sinz on fourth down to pull within a score but Purdue couldn't capitalize on an Irish fumble on the ensuing possession.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rees' career-long 82-yard scoring pass tied Rick Mirer (1989-92) for fourth place in Notre Dame history with 41 career touchdown passes. ...
