No. 25 Arizona 56, South Carolina State 0: Matt Scott threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another as the host Wildcats tuned up for their visit to No. 4 Oregon by amassing 689 yards of offense.
Dan Buckner had six catches for 85 yards and a touchdown for Arizona (3-0), which has won five straight for the first time since 1998. Scott, who did not play in the fourth quarter, was 30 of 36 passing for 288 yards, and also threw touchdown passes to Richard Morrison and two-way player Taimi Tutogi in the first half.
The Wildcats, who upset No. 18 Oklahoma State 59-38 last week, held the Bulldogs to 67 yards of offense and four first downs in the first half en route to a 28-0 lead and their first shutout since a 70-0 victory over Idaho in the 2008 season opener. Arizona allowed 636 yards of offense against Oklahoma State, but yielded only 152 and eight first downs Saturday.
Ka'Deem Carey's 7-yard touchdown run capped a 12-play, 72-yard drive in the second quarter and gave Arizona a 21-0 lead and Scott's 10-yard scamper came 1:40 before halftime. Daniel Jenkins, who led the Wildcats' 323-yard rushing attack with 76, added a touchdown run in the third quarter.
Richard Cue was 12 of 25 passing for 89 yards for South Carolina State (1-2), which finished with 63 rushing yards after averaging 177.5 in its first two games.
