Wyoming 56, Air Force 23: Brett Smith accounted for a school-record 511 yards of offense and five touchdowns to lead the visiting Cowboys in the Mountain West Conference game.
Smith completed 35-of-41 passes for 373 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another 138 yards and a score. Dominic Rufran finished with eight receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns for Wyoming (3-1, 1-0 MWC), which has scored 30 or more points in four consecutive games for the first time in school history.
Jaleel Awini completed 11-of-18 passes for 89 yards for Air Force (1-3, 0-3). Awini also rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown and Jon Lee contributed a team-high 82 rushing yards for the Falcons.
Awini’s 33-yard touchdown run gave Air Force a 7-0 lead on the opening possession of the game, but Smith and Rufran quickly tied the score on a 7-yard touchdown connection that was Smith's school-record 57th career touchdown pass. The Falcons retook the lead on Will Connant’s 33-yard field goal with 8:50 left in the first quarter.
Wyoming responded by outscoring the Falcons 35-7 over the remainder of the first half. Smith threw touchdown passes of 61, 4 and 10 yards, ran for a 6-yard score and Shaun Wick produced the first of his two touchdowns on a 6-yard run to give the Cowboys a 42-17 halftime lead.
