No. 6 Georgia 48, Vanderbilt 3: Aaron Murray completed his first 12 passes and the host Bulldogs scored touchdowns on their first four possessions en route to an easy win over Vanderbilt.
Murray completed 18 of 24 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns as Georgia (4-0, 2-0 SEC) never was seriously challenged in routing the Commodores (1-3, 0-2). Freshman running back Todd Gurley rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns and fellow freshman Keith Marshall added 82 yards and two scores.
Vanderbilt quarterback Jordan Rodgers struggled early but finished 13-of-23 for 218 yards. Jordan Matthews and Chris Boyd were his top targets, each finishing with over 100 receiving yards for the Commodores.
The Bulldogs put it away early. Gurley rushed for a 4-yard touchdown and Marshall scored on a 52-yard run as Georgia led 13-0 after one quarter. Murray hit Tavarres King on a 22-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, and kept the ball on a 1-yard run to help make it a 27-3 edge at the half.
Murray hit Marlon Brown for a 6-yard touchdown six minutes into the third quarter and the Bulldogs finished it off on the ground.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Murray moved ahead of Eric Zeier into second on Georgia’s all-time touchdown passes list (69). Murray is three behind David Greene’s school record of 72. … Vanderbilt was penalized eight times for 52 yards in the first quarter. … Brown finished with five receptions for 114 yards as the Bulldogs piled up 567 yards of total offense.
