Boise State 34, Louisiana-Lafayette 9: Jay Ajayi scored three rushing touchdowns as the Broncos won their 29th straight home game against a non-conference foe.
Ajayi, who was limited to just 39 yards against Connecticut a week ago, carried the ball 27 times for 150 yards as Boise State won its third straight. Grant Hedrick completed 24 of his 31 attempts for 237 yards for the Broncos (3-1).
The Ragin' Cajuns (1-3) managed just 67 yards on the ground against the stubborn Broncos' defense and scored their lone touchdown on a 7-yard scamper by Elijah McGuire early in the fourth quarter. Terrance Broadway completed 20-of-38 passes for 160 yards for Louisiana-Lafayette.
Ajayi scored two quick touchdowns, both from two yards out midway through the first quarter. The junior running back capped a 12-play, 70-yard drive to open the scoring and, following a punt by the Ragin' Cajuns, found the end zone again just over two minutes later to extend the lead to 14-0.
Ajayi helped the Broncos take a 21-3 advantage into the half by scoring from 16 yards out and Devan Demas added a 5-yard TD run in the third quarter. Senior Matt Miller made five catches for 107 yards for the Broncos, raising his career total to 3,004 yards - just 59 shy of the school mark.
