No. 4 Florida State 49, No. 9 Clemson 37: EJ Manuel completed 27 of 35 passes for 380 yards and two touchdowns and added 102 yards on the ground as Florida State earned a key Atlantic Coast Conference win over Clemson.
Chris Thompson ran for 103 yards and a pair of scores and James Wilder Jr. added 65 yards and two touchdowns for the Seminoles (4-0, 2-0 ACC), who piled up 667 yards of total offense.
The Tigers (3-1, 0-1) appeared to be in control with a two-score lead in the third quarter before Florida State woke up. Manuel hit Rashad Greene for a 9-yard score and found Rodney Smith with a 29-yard touchdown strike to give the Seminoles their first lead, 35-31, late in the third.
Wilder provided the back-breaking run in the fourth quarter, absorbing contact and spinning his way to a 35-yard gain. Florida State stuck with Wilder for a 5-yard touchdown run two plays later, and Thompson made Clemson pay for an interception with a 27-yard scoring burst five minutes later to put the game away.
Tajh Boyd completed 20 of 37 passes for 237 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for the Tigers.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who caught seven passes for 141 yards two touchdowns against Florida State last season, was held to 24 yards on six receptions Saturday. … The Seminoles had their string of holding opponents to 19 points or less snapped at 11 games. … Tigers running back Andre Ellington, who came into the game leading the ACC in rushing at 109.3 yards, was held to 55 yards on 14 carries.
