Texas A&M 58, Arkansas 10: Johnny Manziel threw for a school-record 453 yards and three touchdowns, including an 80-yarder to Ryan Swope, and ran for another score as the host Aggies earned their first SEC win and sent Arkansas to its fourth straight loss.
Texas A&M (3-1, 1-1) rolled behind its redshirt freshman quarterback, who has thrown for 10 touchdowns without an interception and rushed for another six this season. The speedy Manziel added 104 yards on 14 carries against the Razorbacks.
Arkansas (1-4, 0-2) committed three turnovers - including two interceptions by preseason Heisman candidate Tyler Wilson, who finished 29-for-59 for 373 yards and a score. Wideout Cobi Hamilton had 11 reception for 162 yards one week after breaking the SEC record with 303 receiving yards.
It was 13-10 Aggies in the second quarter when Wilson, pressured by defensive end Damontre Moore, was intercepted by safety Steven Terrell. Three plays later, Manziel hit Ben Malena with an 11-yard scoring pass. Manziel’s long strike to Swope made it 27-10 late in the second quarter.
Arkansas’ Knile Davis took a screen pass 64 yards for a first-quarter touchdown, but his third-quarter fumble was returned 28 yards for a touchdown by defensive back Tramain Jacobs.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arkansas still leads the all-time series 41-25-3, including three straight wins from 2009-11 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Tex. The annual game returns to Cowboys Stadium in 2014. … Swope, who caught five passes for 141 yards, set a school record with his 10th 100-yard receiving game. … Moore got his eighth career forced fumble when he stripped Davis.
