No. 9 Texas A&M 45, Arkansas 33: Johnny Manziel threw for two touchdowns and Ben Malena rushed for two scores as the Aggies held the Razorbacks scoreless in the fourth quarter and recorded their ninth straight road win.
Mike Evans had six catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns for Texas A&M (4-1, 1-1 SEC), which scored at least 40 points for the eighth consecutive game. Manziel was 23-of-30 for 261 yards and rushed nine times for 59 yards, and his 7-yard touchdown pass to Evans put the Aggies ahead 24-10 early in the second quarter.
Arkansas (3-2, 0-1) rallied with 10 points before the half, beginning with Brandon Allen’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Williams. Allen, who missed last week’s loss to Rutgers with a bruised shoulder, completed 17-of-36 passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions.
Deshazor Everett returned an interception for a score on the Razorbacks’ first possession in the second half, but Arkansas answered with a 9-yard touchdown run by Alex Collins to cut the deficit to 31-27 with 12:43 left in the quarter. Collins had 14 carries for 116 yards for Arkansas, which lost 58-10 to the Aggies last season.
Williams had two touchdown receptions for Arkansas, including a 19-yard catch to pull the Razorbacks within 38-33 with 1:09 left in the third quarter. After Malena scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Aggies a 45-33 with 10:08 to play, Arkansas was stopped on downs on its next possession and Allen was intercepted with 2:55 remaining.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas A&M ran the ball on 22 of its first 25 plays in the second half. … Bret Bielema fell to 47-6, including 3-1 with the Razorbacks, in home games as a head coach. … Texas A&M scored first for the 17th time in 18 games under coach Kevin Sumlin when Manziel connected with Evans on a 9-yard touchdown pass with 12:21 left in the first quarter.
