No. 6 Baylor 49, Iowa State 28: Bryce Petty threw for 336 yards and a touchdown and added two scores on the ground as the visiting Bears throttled the Cyclones for the second straight season.
Shock Linwood had three rushing touchdowns and Johnny Jefferson added another for Baylor (4-0, 1-0 Big 12), which won last year's meeting 71-7. Corey Coleman hauled in 12 catches for 154 yards - both career bests - and a score as the Bears started 4-0 in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1937 and 1938.
Sam B. Richardson threw for 212 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for the Cyclones (1-3, 0-2). He also led the hosts with 99 yards and a score on the ground as Iowa State fell to 0-3 at home.
Linwood and Petty both had rushing touchdowns in the opening 7:09 before Richardson hit Dondre Daley for an 11-yard score to make it 14-7 after one quarter. Petty and Coleman hooked up for a 25-yard score early in the second, kicking off an impressive stanza that allowed the Bears to carry a 35-7 lead into the break.
Iowa State showed some life in the third as Richardson scampered in for a 47-yard TD and answered Linwood's third score by engineering a 13-play drive that culminated in Aaron Wimberly's 1-yard run to make it 42-21 with 7:01 left in the quarter. Petty restored order with a short TD run late in the third, more than enough for Baylor to withstand Richardson's 51-yard TD pass to Tad Ecby with 4:42 remaining.
