Miami 44, North Carolina State 37: Junior quarterback Stephen Morris threw for a school- and ACC-record 566 yards with five touchdowns, including a 62-yarder to wide receiver Phillip Dorsett with 19 seconds left to give Miami a wild ACC victory over visiting North Carolina State.
Morris completed 26 of 49 passes to break the school passing mark of 485 yards set by Gino Torretta against San Diego State in 1991. His final one, coming after eluding a Wolfpack pass rusher and while rolling to his right, found Dorsett crossing behind a trio of North Carolina State defenders for the game-winner.
Dorsett finished with seven catches for 191 yards and two touchdowns, the sixth-best receiving performance in school history, while Rashawn Scott added six receptions for 180 yards and two touchdowns for Miami (4-1, 3-0).
The two teams combined for 1,288 yards in offense. North Carolina State quarterback Mike Glennon completed 24 of 42 passes for 440 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.
North Carolina State (3-2, 0-1) fought back to tie the game at 37 with 1:58 to go on a career-best 50-yard field goal by Niklas Sade, who had earlier missed a PAT.
Miami jumped to a 23-7 first quarter lead, scoring three touchdowns and a safety over a 4:22 span. Morris had 271 yards passing in the first quarter, including touchdown passes of 14, 24 and 76 yards.
