North Carolina 66, Idaho 0: Bryn Renner passed for 231 yards and three first-quarter touchdowns as North Carolina set a school record for points in a game against visiting Idaho.

Renner pushed his season total to 14 touchdown passes as North Carolina (3-2) finished its non-conference schedule 3-1. The junior completed 14 of 19 passes -- with all but one attempt coming in the first half -- against the Vandals (0-5).

North Carolina has not allowed a touchdown in its last 10 quarters and intercepted four Idaho passes to earn its second shutout of the season.

Giovani Bernard ran the ball two times for 70 yards and two scores, including the longest of his career when he scampered 68 yards down the left sideline for a 35-0 Tar Heels' lead with 10:22 left in the second quarter.

Renner connected with Sean Tapley for a 36-yard scoring strike on the fourth play from scrimmage to get the Tar Heels started. North Carolina blocked two punts in the first quarter and turned the first into a touchdown, when Erik Highsmith recovered fellow receiver Eric Ebron’s fumble in the end zone for a 14-0 lead 5:24 into the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Freshman receiver Quinshad Davis had four receptions for 89 yards, including the first two touchdowns of his career. … Idaho quarterback Dominique Blackman, who averaged 277.3 yards per game passing entering the contest, was held to 109. … Backup quarterback Marquise Williams threw for one score and ran for two in the second half for the Tar Heels, who have outscored opponents 99-10 in the second half this year.
