Louisiana Tech 44, Virginia 38: Colby Cameron threw for one touchdown and ran for another and Ray Holley rushed for two scores as the visiting Bulldogs scored 34 consecutive points before holding off the Cavaliers.
Chip Hester returned an interception 32 yards for a score as Louisiana Tech (4-0) turned a 24-10 deficit late in the second quarter into a 44-24 lead with 12:47 remaining. Cameron completed 23 of 36 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown.
After Drew Jarrett hit a 35-yard field goal to put Virginia up 24-10 with 7:35 left in the second quarter, Holley dashed 16 yards and Matt Nelson's 40-yard field goal with four seconds left in the half made it 24-20. Holley's 11-yard touchdown run came on the Bulldogs' first possession of the third quarter and Nelson's third field goal - a 45-yarder - made it 44-24.
Phillip Sims threw two fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull Virginia within six with 2:08 to play, but a penalty on fourth down on the Cavaliers' defense allowed the Bulldogs to run out the clock.
Sims completed 10-of-17 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns after replacing ineffective starter Michael Rocco, who was intercepted three times.
