Arkansas State 28, Louisiana-Monroe 14: Fredi Knighten accounted for all four of the Red Wolves' touchdowns - each of which came in the second half - in a home victory against the Warhawks.
Knighten had three rushing touchdowns as part of his 20 carries for 71 yards and also went 21-of-36 for 284 yards with a TD and two interceptions. Michael Gordon racked up 168 rushing yards on 15 carries for Arkansas State (3-2, 1-0 Sun Belt), while J.D. McKissic totaled 120 yards on eight receptions.
Louisiana-Monroe (3-2, 2-1) got touchdown passes from Pete Thomas and Brayle Brown, who combined to go 26-of-46 for 278 yards. Rashon Ceaser caught 10 balls for 82 yards for the Warhawks.
Arkansas State ougained Louisiana-Monroe 224-66 in the first half, but there was no score at intermission as the teams combined for four turnovers and 2-of-16 third-down conversions. Gordon finally sparked the Red Wolves with a 68-yard run midway through the third, and Knighten scored on a 3-yard run on the next play to make it 7-0.
Arkansas State's next possession resulted in Knighten's 12-yard TD pass to Tyler Trosin before the Warhawks halved the deficit with a quick drive capped by Thomas' 59-yard TD pass to Ajalen Holley. The Red Wolves ended any potential drama, however, by scoring twice in a span of 55 seconds - first on Knighten's 29-yard run and then, after a failed fake punt by Louisiana-Monroe, on Knighten's 12-yard scoring scamper.
