No. 19 Florida 30, Arkansas 10: Tyler Murphy threw three touchdown passes in his second collegiate start as the host Gators continued their dominance over the Razorbacks in an SEC contest.
Murphy, who assumed the starting job after Jeff Driskel suffered a broken leg against Tennessee two weeks ago, finished 16-of-22 for 240 yards. He fired scoring passes of 51 and 38 yards to Solomon Patton and a 9-yard shovel pass to Valdez Showers as Florida (4-1, 3-0 SEC) defeated Arkansas for the ninth time in 10 meetings.
Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen was 17-of-41 for 164 yards as the Razorbacks dropped their third straight game. Allen left in the third quarter after suffering a hand injury and generated little offense upon his return.
The Gators took the lead for good 10-7 in the second quarter after Loucheiz Purifoy stepped in front of an Arkansas receiver and picked off an Allen pass and returned it 42 yards. Murphy capped the first-half scoring by hitting Patton in stride with a back-breaking 51-yard catch and run with 20 seconds left, sending the sellout crowd at "The Swamp" into a frenzy.
Jonathan Williams gave Arkansas (3-3, 0-2) a short-lived 7-0 lead with a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but neither team could establish much on the ground. Florida's Matt Jones, who ran for a career-high 176 yards a week ago, was held to 50 yards on 17 carries.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Florida has at least one interception in eight straight games. ... Florida center Jon Harrison was ejected for pushing a referee. The infraction does not carry an automatic game suspension. ... The Gators scored 24 straight points before Zach Hocker hit a 30-yard field goal with 4:12 left in the third quarter. The Razorbacks then recovered an onside kick, but were offside, negating the play.
