Kentucky 28: Mike Davis rushed for 106 yards and a pair of scores to
lead the Gamecocks to a win over the visiting Wildcats.
Connor Shaw was 17-for-20 for
262 yards and a touchdown for South Carolina (4-1, 2-1 SEC),
which outgained Kentucky 453-301. Damiere Byrd had five catches for
98 yards and a touchdown for the Gamecocks.
Kentucky (1-4, 0-2) got 178
yards passing and 69 yards rushing from quarterback Jalen Whitlow, who threw
for two scores and ran for another. Ryan Timmons had four catches for
36 yards and a touchdown, while Javess Blue had four receptions for
62 yards.
The Gamecocks jumped on top
early, scoring 1:39 into the game on a 62-yard hookup of Shaw to
Byrd. Davis scored two straight touchdowns to push the South Carolina
lead to 21 less than a minute into the second quarter.
Two Whitlow touchdown passes
within two minutes of each other early in the fourth pulled Kentucky
back within six, but South Carolina responded with a seven-play,
89-yard drive capped by a 2-yard touchdown run by Shaw to push the lead
back to double digits. Whitlow's 1-yard touchdown run made the margin
seven with 4:03 to play, but the Wildcats could never get the ball
back.

Whitlow's 178 yards passing were a season high, as it was the first
