Tulsa 45, Marshall 38: Alex Singleton rushed for three touchdowns and Cody Green found Jordan James for a 4-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter as the visiting Golden Hurricane rallied past the Thundering Herd.
Singleton scored from 48, 4 and 2 yards en route to a 16-carry, 94-yard performance. Trey Watts also gashed Marshall's defense for 111 yards on 18 carries for Tulsa (5-1, 3-0 Conference USA), which breezed to a 59-17 triumph over Marshall last year.
Saturday's contest was a lot closer as Rakeem Cato tossed a pair of touchdowns to bridge the third and fourth quarters to give Marshall (2-4, 1-1 Conference USA) a 38-37 lead.
Tulsa rebounded quickly by keeping its ensuing drive alive as Green tossed a 47-yard pass to Kevarris Garrett on a 3rd-and-5. Green, who completed only 9 of 17 passes for 90 yards, also converted the next third down by finding James for the score and Thomas Roberson for the 2-point conversion to give the Golden Hurricane a 45-38 lead.
Tulsa prevented Marshall from answering, stopping the Thundering Herd on their last drive at the Golden Hurricane's 17 by turning the ball over on downs.
