Ohio State 63, No. 20 Nebraska 38: Braxton Miller rushed for 186 yards, an Ohio State single-game record for a quarterback, in leading the undefeated Buckeyes over the visiting Cornhuskers.
Carlos Hyde contributed a career-high 140 rushing yards on 28 carries and four touchdowns for Ohio State (6-0, 2-0 Big Ten). Rod Smith's 33-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter sparked a 21-0 second-half surge that pushed the Buckeyes' lead to 56-31.
Rex Burkhead rushed for 119 yards on 14 carries for Nebraska (4-2, 1-1) before leaving early in the second half with a leg injury. Burkhead missed two games earlier this season with a sprained left knee.
The teams traded the lead four times in the first half before Miller scored on a 31-yard run with 23 seconds remaining to push Ohio State’s lead to 35-24.
The Buckeyes were limited to 17 total yards in the first quarter and did not record a first down until Miller ran 72 yards to the Nebraska 3-yard line with just under 12 minutes remaining in the second quarter. Hyde scored two plays later to cut the deficit to 17-14.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The announced attendance was 106,102, an Ohio Stadium record. … A 73-yard run midway through the first quarter by Burkhead was the longest of his career. … Ohio State senior linebacker Etienne Sabino left the game in the first half with a knee injury and didn’t return. He was replaced by freshman Joshua Perry. Sabino had a team-high eight tackles in last week’s victory over Michigan State.
