Missouri 41, No. 7 Georgia 26: James Franklin passed for 170 yards and a touchdown and added a rushing score before going down with a shoulder injury as the visiting Tigers upset the Bulldogs.
Franklin was pulled in the second half with a shoulder injury but wide receiver Bud Sasser stepped up with a 40-yard touchdown pass of his own while Marcus Murphy and Henry Josey each added rushing scores as Missouri (6-0, 2-0 SEC) went over 40 points for the fourth straight game. L’Damian Washington led the receiving corps with seven catches for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Aaron Murray went 25-for-45 for 290 yards and three scores but lost a fumble and was intercepted twice as Georgia (4-2, 3-1) had a 15-game home winning streak come to an end.
Franklin’s 16-yard touchdown pass to Washington with 12:33 left in the second quarter put the Tigers on top, and Murphy spread the advantage to 21-10 with a 36-yard touchdown run less than seven minutes later. Murray was sacked by Shane Ray and fumbled 10 seconds later, and Michael Sam scooped up the loose ball and took it for a 21-yard touchdown and a 28-10 gap at the break.
Murray’s 10-yard scoring pass to Chris Conley with 12:15 left in the game gave the Bulldogs a chance to tie before a failed two-point conversion left it at 28-26. Missouri left the door open with a missed extra point after Sasser’s 40-yard touchdown pass with 9:22 left, but Murray threw his first pick with 4:15 to play and the Tigers needed only four plays to turn that into Josey’s 7-yard touchdown run.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Murray’s first interception snapped a string of 99 straight pass attempts without a pick. … Franklin came back to the sidelines in a sling in the fourth quarter after taking x-rays, which came back negative. He was diagnosed with a Grade 2 shoulder separation. … The Bulldogs were missing their top two rushers in Todd Gurley (ankle) and Keith Marshall (knee), along with wide receivers Justin Scott-Wesley (knee) and Michael Bennett (knee).
