Louisiana-Lafayette 34, Texas State 10: Elijah McGuire scored a pair of touchdowns and recorded 149 yards from scrimmage as the visiting Ragin' Cajuns routed the Bobcats.
Terrance Broadway was 14-of-21 for 225 yards and a TD, moving into second place on the Louisiana passing yardage list with 6,378 behind only Jake Delhomme (9,216 from 1993-96), and rushed for 101 yards on 19 carries. Christian Ringo returned a fumble for a touchdown - one of two turnovers gained by Louisiana (3-3, 2-0 Sun Belt) after entering the game with only one this season - and the Ragin' Cajuns' defense held Texas State to 270 yards, more than 227 below its average.
Tyler Jones was 14-of-23 for 176 yards and a touchdown for Texas State (3-3, 1-1), which saw its two-game winning streak come to an end. Terrence Franks, who rushed for a career-best 284 yards and three scores in a 35-30 victory over Idaho on Oct. 4, was held to 30 yards in this one.
The Ragin' Cajuns scored on their second play from scrimmage as Broadway hit a wide-open McGuire in stride at the Texas State 35 on a wheel route, and the sophomore running back took it the rest of the way for a 62-yard TD. Louisiana extended its advantage to 14-3 in the second quarter, when Trae Johnson sacked Jones and forced a fumble, which was scooped up by Ringo and taken 41 yards for a touchdown while Johnson performed a celebration dance.
Alonzo Harris rushed for 79 yards, including 1-yard touchdown run that gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 21-3 halftime lead. McGuire capped a 70-yard drive with a shifty 13-yard touchdown run around left end, juking a defender near the goal line on Louisiana's first possession after the break to make it 28-3.
