No. 20 Cincinnati 49, Fordham 17: Munchie Legaux threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Bearcats shook off a sloppy first half to pull away from the visiting Rams.
Legaux ran 8 yards for a score on Cincinnati’s first drive of the second half and the Bearcats added touchdowns on the next two possessions to turn a close game into a 35-6 lead. Ralph Abernathy scored from 36 yards out and Jordan Luallen bulled in for a 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter as the Bearcats (5-0) extended their win streak to eight games.
Cincinnati finished with 472 total yards – 326 in the second half -- and has registered at least 425 in all five games. Legaux completed 15 of 24 passes for 262 yards.
Fordham (4-3) outgained Cincinnati 181-146 in the first half and possessed the ball for 22:15, but the Rams could only manage a pair of Patrick Murray field goals and trailed 14-6 at halftime. Murray’s second was a Patriot League record 55-yarder with 43 seconds left in the half.
Deven Drane ran back a fumble 76 yards for a score after Dan Giordano sacked Rams quarterback Ryan Higgins 5:13 into the game and Legaux connected with tight end Travis Kelce for a 78-yard scoring strike with 3:39 left in the first as the Bearcats took a 14-3 lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Fordham receiver Brian Wetzel caught nine passes for 121 yards and a touchdown, while Higgins passed for 262 yards. … Kelce had three catches for a career-high 101 yards. … Cincinnati has won 23 straight non-conference games at Nippert Stadium.
