No. 9 Southern California 24, Washington 14: Silas Redd rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown and the defense forced four turnovers as the visiting Trojans held off the Huskies.
Matt Barkley completed only 10 of 20 passes for 167 yards, one touchdown and one interception, but Redd and Curtis McNeal led a rushing attack that rumbled for 204 yards for Southern California (5-1, 3-1 Pac-12), which broke a school record by not being shut out for the 188th straight game.
Keith Price passed for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns but was intercepted twice for Washington (3-3, 1-2), which was playing a top 10 opponent for the fourth time this season. The Huskies dropped to 1-3 in those contests.
The Trojans turned Price’s first interception into points in the first quarter, using only three plays and getting an 11-yard score from Redd to take a 10-0 lead. Washington returned the favor later in the first, cashing in Barkley’s interception for a 17-yard touchdown catch by Kasen Williams to cut it to 10-7.
Barkley found Xavier Grimble for an 18-yard touchdown early in the second quarter and the Trojans’ special teams delivered a crushing blow before the half. Anthony Brown broke through the line and blocked a punt, picked it up and ran for a 21-yard touchdown to put USC on top 24-7.
