Wisconsin 38, Minnesota 13: The running back tandem of James White and Montee Ball combined to rush for 341 yards and five touchdowns, leading the Badgers past the Golden Gophers for their third straight win.
White gained a season-high 175 yards on 15 carries and scored three touchdowns, and Ball added 166 yards and a pair of scores as Wisconsin (6-2, 3-1 Big Ten) overwhelmed Minnesota for the ninth consecutive time in the longest-running series among FBS teams.
The Gophers (4-3, 0-3) have dropped three in a row.
Wisconsin, which led 14-6 at halftime, broke the game open on White's 48-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to increase its lead to 24-6. Ball found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter to finish off the Gophers.
Minnesota redshirt freshman quarterback Philip Nelson, making the first start of his career, completed 13 of 24 passes for 149 yards with two touchdowns. He also threw a pair of interceptions.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Badgers duo has amassed 712 yards and 10 touchdowns the past two
weeks. Last week in a win at Purdue, Ball rushed for a career-high 247
yards and four scores while White added 124 and a score. ... Ball now has 68 rushing TDs in his career, tying him with former Indiana standout Anthony Thompson for second on the all-time Big Ten list. Former Badger and Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne holds the conference record with 71. Ball has 74 total touchdowns and is now five short of Travis Prentice's NCAA record of 78. ... Wisconsin, which had just two interceptions the first seven games, had two against the Gophers.
