Arkansas 49, Kentucky 7: Tyler Wilson threw for 372 yards and a career-best five touchdowns as the Razorbacks cruised to victory over the visiting Wildcats.
Wilson hit Jonathan Williams for a 74-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage for the Razorbacks (3-4, 2-2 SEC) and the two connected again, this time for a 77-yard score, on the last play of the first quarter for a 28-0 lead.
The game was delayed for more than an hour late in the first quarter and again in the third before being called.
The Wildcats (1-6, 0-4) had no answer on either side of the ball, allowing 533 yards of total offense and producing next to nothing in the passing game under freshman Jalen Whitlow, who managed only 83 yards through the air on 2-for-10 passing. Senior Morgan Newton, considered an emergency-only option following shoulder surgery, replaced Whitlow for a pair of series in the second quarter.
Williams finished with 150 yards on only three catches for Arkansas, which prevailed over a rival from the SEC East for a school-record ninth consecutive game. Dennis Johnson added two rushing touchdowns, caught a pass for a score and finished with 82 yards on 12 carries for the Razorbacks.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Arkansas defense fared well without leading tackler Alonzo Highsmith, holding Kentucky to 66 yards on the ground and 170 overall. ... Whitlow accounted for nearly 75 percent of his passing yards on a 61-yard touchdown strike to La'Rod King for the game's final score... Wilson's five touchdown passes give him 14 on the season, two behind Tennessee's Tyler Bray for the SEC lead.
