Louisiana-Lafayette 23, Arkansas State 7: Alonzo Harris rushed for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Elijah McGuire ran for 110 yards as the visiting Ragin' Cajuns stayed unbeaten in Sun Belt Conference play.
Jamal Robinson caught seven passes for 104 yards and Terrance Broadway passed for 205 yards and rushed for 28 for Lafayette (5-2, 3-0 Sun Belt), which took over the top spot in the conference standings with its fifth straight win.
The Ragin' Cajuns were dominant on defense, holding Arkansas State (3-4, 1-1) to 168 total yards - 313 yards below its season average - while sending the Red Wolves to only their second loss in their last 16 home games. Adam Kennedy finished 11-of-20 for 89 yards with an interception and scored Arkansas State's only touchdown on a 3-yard run with 3:39 left in the half.
The Ragin' Cajuns scored on their first three possessions to build a 17-0 lead and never let the Red Wolves back within striking distance. Harris capped a pair of long drives with 3-yard touchdown runs and Stephen Brauchle booted field goals of 36 and 38 yards to help Lafayette to a 20-7 halftime lead.
Brauchle tacked on a 30-yard field goal on the next-to-last play of the third quarter and the Ragin' Cajuns' defense took care of the rest, holding Arkansas State to four first downs in the second half. Lafayette controlled the ball for 42:18, compared to 17:42 for the Red Wolves.
