Pittsburgh 47, Temple 17: Ray Graham ran in a pair of touchdowns and added a receiving score as the Panthers pulled away from the visiting Owls for their first Big East victory.
Tino Sunseri passed for 321 yards and three TDs as the Panthers (4-4, 1-3 Big East) extended their win streak over Temple to seven games. Graham rushed for 109 yards and had four receptions for 71 yards, while Devin Street caught six passes for 140 yards and a touchdown.
Temple (3-4, 2-2), which was held to 31 yards rushing in the first half, pulled within 31-14 on a Montel Harris 14-yard run early in the second half but could get no closer.
Pittsburgh capitalized on a fumbled punt to take the lead for good on Rushel Shell’s 1-yard run just 4:23 into the game. Sunseri then connected with tight end J.P. Holtz for an 18-yard score to cap a six-play, 90-yard drive with 4:46 left in the first quarter.
Matt Brown’s 77-yard kickoff return set a 9-yard touchdown pass from Chris Coyer to tight end Cody Booth that pulled Temple within 14-7 late in the first quarter, but the Panthers scored the final 17 points of the half. Graham ran 1 yard for a score and caught a swing pass from Sunseri for a 4-yard touchdown with one second remaining in the second quarter for a 31-7 lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Graham moved from eighth to fifth on Pittsburgh’s all-time rushing list, passing Elliott Walker, Billy West and LeSean McCoy, with 2,851 yards. … Harris rushed for 72 yards. … Pittsburgh receiver Mike Shanahan had six receptions to give him 134 in his career, moving into fifth on the program’s all-time list.
