No. 10 Florida State 33, Miami 20: Devonta Freeman ran for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns and James Wilder Jr. added another score on the ground as the visiting Seminoles knocked off the Hurricanes.
EJ Manuel passed for 229 yards for Florida State (7-1, 4-1 ACC), which overcame a pair of turnovers and 12 penalties to win for the sixth time in the last eight meetings and the fourth straight time at Miami.
The Hurricanes (4-4, 3-2) turned a fumble and a missed field goal into a 10-0 lead in the first quarter but could not keep up the rest of the way. Wilder busted up the middle for a 17-yard touchdown to knot it at 10-10 with 9:14 left in the second quarter and the Seminoles took the lead on a strange play at the end of the half.
Miami had already left the field after a Florida State penalty appeared to end the first half on a time run off. But Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher used his final timeout and brought Miami back out of the tunnel before having Dustin Hopkins kick a 46-yard field goal to take a 13-10 lead into the break.
The Seminoles put the game away in the fourth quarter as Freeman capped a 74-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run and Hopkins connected from 48 yards to make it 26-13 with 6:13 left. Freeman added a 5-yard touchdown with 2:45 left to put it away.
