Boston College 20, Maryland 17: Chase Rettig threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns, including a go-ahead 14-yard score to Johnathan Coleman with 52 seconds left, to lift the Eagles past the visiting Terrapins.
Alex Amidon caught nine passes for 137 yards for Boston College (2-6, 1-4 ACC), which survived a furious comeback attempt by the Terrapins.
Freshman Caleb Rowe threw for a pair of touchdowns and three interceptions for Maryland (4-4, 2-2), which scored 17 unanswered second-half points to take a 17-13 lead with 8:47 left in regulation before Rettig connected with Coleman.
Rettig hit David Dudeck for a 20-yard score 1:45 into the game and Nate Freese added a pair of field goals as the Eagles took a 13-0 lead 2:49 into the third quarter.
Rowe found Nigel King for a 1-yard score 5:45 later and then connected with fellow freshman Stefon Diggs for a 66-yard touchdown to put the Terrapins ahead 17-13. But Rettig led Boston College on a 13-play, 85-yard drive to spoil the comeback, capping it off with the TD toss to Coleman.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Maryland held Boston College to just eight rushing yards. ... Diggs finished with career-highs of 11 catches and 152 yards. ... Spiffy Evans recorded 109 punt return yards and 63 kick return yards for the Eagles.
