No. 4 Ohio State 56, Purdue 0: Braxton Miller threw for 233 yards and four touchdowns – three in the first quarter – as the visiting Buckeyes rolled over the Boilermakers and extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 21 games.
Miller completed 19-of-23 passes and has nine touchdown passes over the last three weeks for Ohio State (9-0, 5-0 Big Ten), which totaled 640 yards of offense. Tight end Jeff Heuerman caught five passes for a career-best 116 yards and a touchdown while Carlos Hyde gained 111 yards on eight carries for the Buckeyes.
Backup quarterback Kenny Guiton also ran for 98 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for a third as Ohio State won by the largest margin ever against Purdue. Freshman Danny Etling completed 13-of-29 for 89 yards and was sacked six times as the Boilermakers (1-7, 0-4) were shut out for the second straight game.
Doran Grant’s 33-yard interception return on the second play from scrimmage gave the Buckeyes the lead for good and Miller’s 40-yard scoring strike to Heuerman extended the lead only 3:32 in. Miller capped a six-play drive with an 8-yard toss to Nick Vannett and his 1-yard shovel pass to Philly Brown with 2:10 left in the first quarter made it 28-0.
Guiton came on for Miller to end an 11-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Chris Fields as the Buckeyes outgained Purdue 350-87 in the first half. Miller notched his fourth touchdown pass late in the second quarter to Ezekiel Elliott for 10 yards as Ohio State took a 42-0 halftime lead.
