No. 14 Arizona State 24, Washington 10: Taylor Kelly threw two touchdowns and Armand Perry returned a late interception for a score as the visiting Sun Devils rolled past the Huskies.
Kelly returned after missing three games due to injury and was 14-of-25 for 180 yards with one interception for Arizona State (6-1, 4-1 Pac-12), which has won nine in a row against Washington. Kelly’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Gary Chambers put the Sun Devils ahead 17-10 with three minutes left.
Huskies freshman Troy Williams was 18-of-26 for 139 yards with two interceptions while starting in place of Cyler Miles, who suffered a concussion in last week’s loss at Oregon. Shaq Thompson rushed 21 times for 98 yards and Deontae Cooper added 70 rushing yards for Washington (5-3, 1-3), which has lost three of its last four.
Arizona State’s Jaelen Strong had 55 receiving yards, including a 16-yard touchdown catch midway through the second quarter. The Sun Devils took a 10-0 lead into the half following Zane Gonzalez’s 33-yard field goal.
The Huskies rallied late in the third quarter as John Timu returned an interception 63 yards for a score and pulled even on Cameron Van Winkle’s 23-yard field goal midway through the fourth. After taking the lead on Chambers’ touchdown catch, the Sun Devils secured the victory when Perry returned an interception 61 yards for a score with less than a minute left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona State improved to 21-0 under coach Todd Graham when leading at halftime. … Washington LB Hau’oli Kikaha recorded two sacks and set the all-time school record with 31.5, including 14.5 this season, which leads the nation and ties a Huskies single-season record. … Washington played without injured running backs Dwayne Washington (chest) and Lavon Coleman (shoulder).
