Air Force 48, Nevada 31: Connor Dietz threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another as the Falcons downed the visiting Wolf Pack in the first-ever meeting between the schools.
Wes Cobb rushed for a career-high 152 yards and a touchdown while Dietz rushed for 68 yards and needed just seven pass attempts to throw for 139 yards as Air Force (5-3, 4-1 Mountain West) collected 461 of its 600 total yards on the ground.
Holding onto a three-point lead early in the second quarter, Dietz hit Dontae Strickland for a 46-yard touchdown pass to push the advantage to 17-7. After each team scored touchdowns over the next three drives, Dietz closed the first half with a 29-yard scoring toss to leave the Falcons with a 31-21 margin.
Cobb answered Nevada’s only third-quarter TD drive with his fourth touchdown run in two games, but it was not until Dietz’s 1-yard quarterback sneak with 9:33 remaining that Air Force finally put Nevada (6-3, 3-2) away.
Stefphon Jefferson rushed for 93 yards and Cody Fajardo rushed for two scores for the Wolf Pack, who has dropped two in a row after winning five straight.
