Tennessee 55, Troy 48: Tyler Bray passed for a school-record 530 yards and recorded five touchdown passes as the host Volunteers rallied for a pair of late scores in the fourth quarter to avoid the upset.
Trailing 48-41, Bray connected with Justin Hunter on a 46-yard scoring strike with 2:54 left to tie the game. Following a three-and-out effort by the Tennessee defense, Bray drove the Vols (4-5) 66 yards in six plays as Marlin Lane capped the comeback with a 9-yard touchdown run with 1:25 remaining.
Troy (4-5), which dropped its second straight, drove to the Tennessee 41 in the final seconds but could not get a final throw to the end zone. The Trojans rallied from a 28-10 deficit in the second quarter to take a 30-28 lead before Tennessee kicked a field goal on the final play of the first half to take a 31-30 halftime advantage.
Bray and Hunter connected for three touchdowns in the game while Lane rushed for a career-high 132 yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns. Hunter finished with nine receptions for 181 yards while fellow wide out Cordarrelle Patterson also hauled in nine catches for 219 yards and a score.
The quarterback duo of Corey Robinson and Deon Anthony combined for 496 yards passing and three touchdowns for Troy.
