Louisiana-Lafayette 19, South Alabama 9: Elijah McGuire rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown and the host Ragin' Cajuns shut out the Jaguars in the second half to remain undefeated in Sun Belt play.
Terrance Broadway was 16-of-28 for 216 yards and added 54 yards on the ground for Louisiana-Lafayette (5-3, 4-0 Sun Belt). Hunter Stover booted four field goals, one shy of the school record, as the Ragin' Cajuns rallied from a 9-3 deficit.
Brandon Bridge finished 16-of-27 for 177 yards and a touchdown for South Alabama (5-3, 4-2) before leaving late in the third quarter with an apparent right ankle injury. Shavarez Smith caught eight passes for 116 yards and Jereme Jones had a touchdown grab for the Jaguars.
Stover's 23-yard field goal opened the scoring, but the Jaguars responded by scoring on consecutive drives early in the second quarter, including Bridge's 12-yard TD pass to Jones for a 9-3 lead. Stover booted a 26-yard field goal to get the Ragin' Cajuns within 9-6 at the half and converted tying and go-ahead kicks from 22 and 32 yards.
Backup quarterback Matt Floyd led the Jaguars to the 2-yard line in search of the go-ahead score early in the fourth quarter, but Kendall Houston fumbled and the Ragin' Cajuns recovered on their own 9. McGuire's 8-yard TD run capped a six-play, 91-yard drive to seal the victory.
