No. 10 Louisville 45, Temple 17: Teddy Bridgewater threw for 324 yards and a career-high five touchdowns as the unbeaten Cardinals pulled away from the visiting Owls.
Bridgewater connected with Andrell Smith for a pair of scores and Louisville (9-0, 4-0 Big East) recorded the final 28 points of the contest. Eli Rogers, Ryan Hubbell and DeVante Parker added one touchdown reception each as the Cardinals started the season with nine straight victories for the first time in their history.
Jeremy Wright rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries, including a 3-yard touchdown run that gave a Louisville a 24-17 lead with 8:15 left in the second quarter. Nine different players caught a pass for the Cardinals, who matched their season high for points in a game and handed Temple (3-5, 2-3) its third straight defeat.
The Owls led 7-0 after Matt Brown took the opening kickoff 93 yards for a score, and 14-7 following a 5-yard touchdown run by Montel Harris with 2:05 left in the first quarter.
Bridgewater responded with two of his three first-half touchdown passes and Louisville managed a 31-17 lead at halftime. Bridgewater connected with a wide-open Hubbell for 72 yards to tie it 14-14 late in the first quarter and his 14-yard scoring strike to Smith closed the first-half scoring with 1:02 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Harris finished with 115 yards rushing for his 25th career 100-yard game, more than any other active FBS player. … Louisville’s John Wallace had a 36-yard field goal, making him 8-of-8 inside 50 yards this season. …Temple had just 54 yards passing.
