North Carolina 45, Virginia 14: Marquise Williams threw for two touchdowns, rushed for a score and caught another touchdown as the Tar Heels won a convincing home victory over the Cavaliers.
With senior quarterback Bryn Renner (shoulder) having played his last game for North Carolina, Williams filled his shoes admirably, compiling 260 total yards. Quinshad Davis chipped in five receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown and also threw for a score for the Tar Heels (4-5, 3-3 ACC), who overcame 13 penalties for 102 yards.
Virginia's David Watford was 14-for-30 for 129 yards with two interceptions before Greyson Lambert came on and threw a fourth-quarter touchdown to Keeon Johnson. Kevin Parks rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown for the Cavaliers (2-8, 0-6), who have lost seven straight games and have been outscored 104-24 over the last two weeks.
North Carolina took an early 7-0 lead on Williams' 8-yard TD pass to Davis and doubled its advantage on Davis' 29-yard TD pass to Williams - a play in which the sophomore wideout took an end-around and found his quarterback wide open down the right sideline. The lone score of the second quarter was Ryan Switzer's 85-yard punt return for a touchdown, sending the Tar Heels into the locker room with a 21-0 advantage.
Williams added a short rushing touchdown in the third quarter and a 15-yard touchdown pass in the fourth, sandwiched around Dominique Green's 62-yard interception return for a score. Williams finished 15-of-28 for 185 yards and added 46 yards on the ground, in addition to his 29-yard TD catch.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lambert finished 8-of-13 for 75 yards and a touchdown. ... North Carolina had five players rush for between 25-50 yards. Romar Morris led the way with 48 yards on four carries. ... Johnson had five catches for 59 yards to pace the Virginia air attack.
