No. 6 Clemson 55, Georgia Tech 31: Tajh Boyd enjoyed a record-breaking night, passing for four touchdowns and rushing for a score as the host Tigers cruised to their third consecutive victory.
Boyd set the ACC career record for touchdown passes with 97 and broke the school record for career completions, completing 20-of-26 passes for 340 yards for Clemson (9-1, 7-1 ACC). Boyd fired a pair of scoring strikes to Sammy Watkins, and Martavis Bryant finished with 176 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Robert Godhigh finished with 126 yards rushing and two touchdowns and added 103 yards receiving for Georgia Tech (6-4, 5-3). The Yellow Jackets, fifth in FBS in rushing at 311.2 yards, were held to 72 yards rushing in the first half and finished with 248.
Godhigh brought the Yellow Jackets within 27-17 on a 65-yard touchdown run with 12:08 left in the third quarter. Boyd scored on a 1-yard run on the ensuing possession and hooked up with Watkins on a screen pass that turned into a 44-yard score with 7:53 remaining in the quarter to make it 41-17.
Boyd and Watkins connected on a 41-yard touchdown early in the second quarter, and Boyd’s 4-yard scoring pass to Mike Williams gave the Tigers a 20-0 advantage with 9:03 left in the quarter. Boyd added his third touchdown pass of the quarter with 5:44 remaining, finding Bryant down the right sideline for a 76-yard score.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Boyd added 43 yards rushing, becoming the first ACC quarterback to reach 10,000 career passing yards and 1,000 career rushing yards. He passed North Carolina State's Philip Rivers (95 from 200-03) on the career touchdowns list. … Georgia Tech’s Harrison Butker kicked a 33-yard field goal to end the first half, the Yellow Jackets’ first field-goal attempt since Oct. 12. … Godhigh set career highs in rushing yards and receiving yards.
