No. 7 Florida 27, Louisiana-Lafayette 20: Jelani Jenkins returned a blocked punt 36 yards to score the go-ahead touchdown with two seconds left as the Gators came from behind late to avoid a stunning upset by the visiting Ragin’ Cajuns.
Loucheiz Purifoy came through the line unblocked and got a hand on Brett Baer’s punt, sending it up in the air to Jenkins, who grabbed it on the right side and sprinted to the end zone. That capped a run of 14 points in the final 1:42 for Florida (9-1).
Jacoby Brissett, who took over for Jeff Driskel after an ankle injury sidelined the starter in the third quarter, hit Jordan Reed with a 39-yard completion to get the Gators into the red zone and then found Quinton Dunbar on the right side for a 3-yard touchdown pass to tie it at 20-20 with 1:42 remaining.
Brissett and Driskel combined to go 19-of-24 for 162 yards and one touchdown apiece for Florida, which still has a shot at the SEC East crown if Georgia falls.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (5-4) trailed 13-3 after Florida’s field goal to start the third but picked up their first touchdown 4:08 later, capping a nine-play drive with Alonzo Harris’ 2-yard touchdown run. Louisiana-Lafayette’s special teams finally gave it the lead, as Kyle Christy blocked a punt and Blake Comminie scooped it up and ran for a 22-yard touchdown.
