Colorado racked up 191 yards and held the ball for 10:45 of the first 15 minutes, but only had Will Oliver's 27-yard field goal to show for it. The Buffaloes, though, broke into the end zone on the first play of the second quarter when Liufau (23-for-36) found a wide open Kyle Slavin with a 10-yard touchdown pass.
After Liufau's 10-yard touchdown pass to Tony Jones made it 17-10, Oliver's intended deep squib kick caromed off a Cal up man and Colorado recovered at the Bears' 49. Eight plays later, Christian Powell ran through a huge hole for a 2-yard TD run with 46 seconds left in the first half to give the Buffaloes a 24-10 lead at the break.
